Valued Veterans

Valued Veteran Committee Chair

MISSION:

Increase support to our lodge and fraternity as we identify lodge veterans and organize into a cohesive lodge resource to support activities of interest to veterans, their dependents and affiliate patriot volunteers to help ourselves and each other; and consider if, and how we may be a constructive resource to our communities. Veterans have earned and deserve our recognition and support; we can help veterans and veterans can help us.

“IF IT’S TO BE, IT’S UP TO YOU AND ME”

LET’S LEAD BY EXAMPLE!

PREMISE:

Military veterans are America’s best kept secret; a well trained, disciplined, experienced and tested resource that understands the value and effectiveness of cooperation and teamwork towards a common purpose; and have the potential to support and advance our organization. America’s veterans have learned to accept sacrifice as well as to give work, service and support to others; benefits of “the common good”. Veterans deserve our support respect and admiration. There are heroes in our communities who still remember “the American Way” of cooperation, willing self-sacrifice to advance everyone and support something more than “ME”, “MY RIGHTS” and “MY LIBERTY”. Think “US”, “WE” and “OUR” – NOT “ME-ME-ME”! MANY OF THEM, MEN & WOMEN, ARE MEMBERS OF OUR FRATERNITY |

Supporting veterans is something that has always been important to the Moose. So, it is no surprise that our “Valued Veterans” program has drawn so much interest from members, lodges and chapters.

The focus of this program is on the recognition and support of Moose veterans with an emphasis on their ongoing service to their fraternal units and communities through the Moose. The program’s tag phrase captures this well: “Moose Members Serving Then . . . and NOW!” This approach simultaneously honors our veterans while also highlighting the Fraternity’s commitment to community service.

The International Heart of the Community Committee approached the planning of this program with passion, enthusiasm, and personal insights, as several members are veterans themselves. The goal was to deliver more recognition and support to our own members who are veterans and to provide Lodges and Chapters with the necessary tools to make the best possible impact on all who have served.
